Whippets are not the most obedient class of dogs. They are occasionally accused of being stupid and spiteful but this is simply not true: they were bred over the centuries to hunt independently and they retain an attitude of free thinkers.
Like any other dog they can be trained but they require positive dog training techniques and your patience.
The good news is that whippets are the most obedient and willing to please of the sighthound family.
It won’t be difficult to establish the basic rules and it will be fun to teach your whippet and learn from him.
Whippets are clever and whimsical and sometimes they will outsmart you in unexpected ways, this is part of the charm of living with such a beautiful and intelligent dog.

Two rules of housebreaking to remember are 1. Confinement so your dog cannot go to the bathroom in the wrong places and 2. Constant or regular access to the right place to go to the bathroom.
Confinement means that until your dog is housebroken, he is never allowed to walk freely around the house. Every hour of every day; unless you are sitting with your dog, playing with him, walking him, feeding him,or interacting with him. Because if he is loose and you take your eyes off him for just a few moments, he can go to the bathroom on your floor, and the bad habit is begun.
Access to the right place means you take your dog outside, or he lets himself outside through a doggy door. Or it means you provide him with newspapers or a litter box indoors. He must have somewhere to go on a regular basis.

The Alaskan Malamute is loyal and intelligent, sweet and affectionate. Great with children who are old enough to play with him safely. If their canine instincts are met, they mature into a dignified and mellow adult dog. They are super friendly and so not suitable for use as a guard dog. Malamutes are happiest living outdoors, but they also enjoy living indoors where their human family lives. Without firm leadership and daily mental and physical exercise, these dogs may become destructive nuisances, acting like puppies forever.
Malamutes love outdoor activities and even do well in obedience with firm encouragement. Although it can be difficult to train Malamutes for formal obedience, it is not particularly hard to train them to be well-mannered because they love to please. Males can be very dominant. This breed needs the humans around him to be firm, confident and consistent pack leaders. Some dogs may be difficult to housebreak. This breed is a thrifty feeder and needs less food than you might expect.
Malamutes are quiet compared to most dogs but they do like to howl and dig. This breed should be supervised around unfamiliar small animals, as they have a strong prey instinct. This does not mean they are not good with small animals. Both males and females can be combative with other dogs, especially with the same sex and breed and firm handling and training are necessary to curve this. Proper socialization with people and other dogs is imperative. Obedience training is highly recommended.

Great Danes, surprisingly, are just as happy with a small space as with a large one. Most large dogs have a lower activity level, while smaller dogs require a much greater level of activity. Giant breed dogs usually require two good long walks a day.
The Great Dane likes to lie around and he or she only requires at a minimum a good long walk once a day. The Great Dane does not bark much and rarely become aggressive. Larger urban areas are well-suited for the Great Dane as it loves everyone and needs to be around people. It is also playful and patient with children. However, because of the size and head strong nature, the Great Dane should be socialized and obedience trained at an early age and always kept on leash. The Dane can even adapt to being left on her own during the day as long as she gets a walk and lots of company in the morning and evening.
As an apartment dog, she will need a few things to make her and you happy: A space of her own. Whether a corner in your bedroom or a space in the hallway, you will need to provide at least a little spot for him to call his own. A very soft bed or large cushion to lie on or she’ll be up on the furniture like no tomorrow. A raised dog food dish, and for those colder climates a coat or cape to keep warm on those long daily walks.
As long as you provide a little space in your home, get some obedience training and provide the exercise this breed needs, then the Great Dane makes an excellent apartment dog.

The Airedale terrier is a relatively common English dog breed. The common sizes range between 58-61cm and they weigh approximately 25kg. This breed is also sometimes called Waterside Terrier or Bingley Terrier. It’s a dog breed of medium size, is good with children and has a very high energy level as well. It needs a daily dose of exercise to remain happy and healthy and is often very playful as well. Airedale terriers were first used as hunting dogs, but are nowadays more commonly kept as regular pets.
In average this dog has a lifespan of about 11.5 years, and often dies of sickness rather than old age. Airedale Terriers can be aggressive towards other dogs, but will usually be either friendly or polite with strangers. They have very protective instincts and can be used as watch or guard dog. They have good learning capacities, are very alert and stubborn, but lack the strength however to hinder any intruders. What they lack in power they make up for in terms of sound. If you like to feel safe at home an Airedale Terrier is good to have around.

Pitbulls are the kind of dogs that have to be trained diligently. Without proper training, it is possible that these pit bulls can become aggressive. If you have a pitbull puppy, start training it as early as now. Postponing the training may mean less than great results and frustration for you.
Here are some tips you can use to successfully train your pitbull:
Start training when the puppy reaches seven weeks. Start with simple housebreaking. Formal obedience training could come later. Right now, just focus on teaching your dog the basics. Surely, there are things that you want your dog to learn and there would be some habits you want it to break. This time is the best training ground for such.
Treat your dog with care. Don’t think that pitbulls are dominant dogs. Naturally, theyre not. But if you fail to train them right, they would soon grow to be. This is why training pitbulls early on is essential. Talk to your dog and constantly remind it of the rules. Be patient because it takes time for a young dog to understand what you’re trying to tell him.

A Puggle is a hybrid between two breeds of dogs, a Pug and a Beagle. Puggles tend to be about 20-30 pounds, and 13-15 inches at the withers. While colors vary, and there are completely black as well as multicolored Puggles, the vast majority are fawn colored with wrinkled black masks (similar to Pugs), but with the longer body, slightly increased size, and longer nose and floppy ears associated with Beagles. Puggles typically have a curly tail, are tan with a black muzzle- earning them the nickname of “miniature mastiffs”
Puggles have the mild mannered yet playful “lap dog” qualities often associated with Pugs, mixed with the more energetic tendencies typical of the hunting qualities of a Beagle. They are sturdy, resilient dogs that can effortlessly take a bit of rough-housing, while being the cheerful clowns that love to play. A Puggles’ greatest delight seems to be to be in their owner’s presence: this quality tends to keep them close to you; they love to be cuddled. Many Puggle owners testify to their winning personality as one of their strongest points.
Grooming is very minimal with Puggles, the occasional bath; nail clipping, brushing and cleaning of their ears is all they require. Puggles do shed; however, their relatively short coat and small size minimizes this problem. They tend to live between 9 and 11 years; are very sweet natured and very affectionate.

Like most terriers, the Scottish Terrier has a mind of his own. Unlike his cousins, he is reserved, quite particular in his choice of people, and steadfastly loyal. He or she tolerates rowdy children and many adults quite well; she or he is wary of strangers and is likely to become a one-man or one-woman companion, sensitive to the moods of his chosen master. The Scottish Terrier (or Scottie) barks a lot, and he loves to dig - no fence will hold him if he’s truly determined to dig his way out.
The Scottish Terrier’s scrappy attitude makes can make him or her fairly difficult to train. The new Scottish Terrier owner should immediately enroll their terrier puppy into an obedience school, for this terrier breed has an attitude can dominate a household with great skill if he is not taught that the master is the boss. The training must be firm and gentle to avoid breaking his spirit, for nothing so insults a Scottish Terrier as mean treatment.

If dogs could play poker, I think it’s fairly obvious that a bulldog would win. They have the best poker face. If I were a bulldog playing poker, I would try to play against a bunch of dalmations - they seem to be the most simple minded of all the dog breeds, and I’d take em for all they had. I’d be worried about going head to head with a Jack Russell though - those little guys are wily, and probably excellent bluffers. I would have to find one of those best online poker deals sites to practice on, and a computer keyboard that could handle my paws. In time….in time.
